We all know the 20th running of the SkyRun is under 2 weeks away - here are some names to watch!
Elite women to watch
Nicolete Griffioen : K-Way Athlete, SA Exterra Champion and 4th placed in World Mountain Running Championships. Making her SkyRun debut.
Tracy Zunckel: Lives in the mountains and strong runner, novice so will be interesting to see how Tracy adapts to the elements of the race.
Tracey Almirall: Merrel Athlete, another novice in the race, but from an Adventure racing pedigree, so will be strong in the elements that make this race hard.
Gia Madole: Altra Athlete, USA 200 mile champion and adventurer extraordinaire. This race will suit her style and let’s hope it’s just not to short. Gia will be doing her best work on the back end of SkyRun 2016.
Misty Weyer: Second lady last year and off the back of a great run at UTMB, will Misty be able to get back to back podiums?
Elite men to watch:
Jock Green: Salomon Athlete, local runner who has many SkyRun podium finishes.
Bruce Arnett: Innovate Athlete, 13 Time winner and often referred to as Mr SkyRun, coming off an injury layoff so it will be interesting to see if he has the training in his legs to defend his crown.
Christiaan Greyling: Salomon Athlete, looking for his first win in the SkyRun on the back of a superb second last year.
Andrew Erasmus: Salomon Athlete, goal race for 2016 will be in contention and looking to conquer this beats we call SkyRun.
Steven Erasmus: Salomon Athlete, another of SA’s top ultra-runners who is going for a podium finish after a string of impressive wins this year.

Pedro Calderon: Innovate Athlete, Spanish athlete who is now living in SA. Last year in a 3-way tie for 2nd, so will be a contender if he is over the injury that’s plagued him this year.
Mike Nash: Top 10 at Otter this year, looks to be in the shape of his life, looking for a big run from Mike and a dark horse in this field.
Lucky Mia: K-Way Athlete, SkyRun rookie, but a runner who can make light work of this course if he can come to terms with the distance. One of SA’s top runners in the shorter distances this will be Lucky’s first 100km trail race.
Hylton Dunn: Many top 3 finishes for Hylton, is this the year he can stand on the top of the podium?
AJ Calitz: K-Way Athlete, this is AJ Goal race for the back end of 2016. Finishing second last year AJ has the pedigree and talent to win the SkyRun.
