About the Patatfees

Napier was once the sweet potato (patat) growing capital of South Africa. To celebrate this humble yet versatile vegetable, they have named their annual festival after it. The festival encompasses the delightful rural atmosphere of Napier, where, at the foot of the Soetmuisberg, between Caledon and Bredasdorp, is a blend of century-old cottages and modern houses, surrounded by the rolling farmland which typifies the Overberg. Vistors and participants enjoy the sporting events, the local crafts, wine, beer & food, and the festivities that continue throughout the weekend. Be on the lookout for unique scarecrows that residents prepare especially for the festival and display in their gardens.
